Eid Mubarak
Eid Mubarak, Fam! We are sitting in the masjid, waiting for the takbeerat to start. It’s a beautiful day - there’s been rain for the last few days, and heat, and wildfire smoke settling over the city for days but last night’s downpour seems to have cleared the smoke, and the air is fresh and breezy.
Today, more than most days, I’m reminded of the incredible blessing of family. For most of my adult life, we were all together at Eid, but between the pandemic and travel, the family celebrating in one place has been the exception rather than the rule recently. Having my sister and my parents here with us this year is so wonderful, watching my kids fall right back into play with their cousins, as though the last 11 months hadn’t happened.
I pray for each and every one of you to spend these days in the way that makes you happiest. For me, that’s in a 6 way conversation, filled with tangents, voices cascading into each other, with the people I love.
