Friday Drops - Bilbo does Kingston
Wherein the rabbit travels with us and is treated like a minor celebrity
I mentioned last week that we were headed to Toronto to spend time with family. Well, we did the 5 hour drive this week and it was a first for Bilbo the rabbit. She sat in her carrier, between the boys in the back seat, and then when stopped in Kingston (aaaack! Sorry Mona, I forgot to message you that we were passing through), we wanted to give her some outside time and a chance to stretch her furry little legs, so we put her on her little leash (it’s a cat leash actually. They don’t make bunny leashes - surprise surprise) and took her with us while we walked around the water front and stopped in for goodies.
Let me tell you, if you’re feeling a little down and want some love, may I recommend walking down the street with a an adorable little bunny in your arms? People stopped just short of pointing, but they literally turned to each other and whispered. They Oohed and aaaahed! They held their hands together, overcome by cuteness. Everywhere we stopped (the ice cream store, the coffee shop) they asked us about our rabbit. At the ice cream store, they even offered her a small cup of vanilla ice cream - I turned it down: rabbits are vegan and cow dairy is not!
Other things that brought me joy this week:
Health! There’s nothing quite like a brutal summer head cold to remind you how lucky you are to feel well the rest of the time. I was sick for a few days this week. Congestion headache, unable to breath, give me ginger and lemon tea sick. Alhamdulillah, I’m feeling much better now. Still downing Ricola lozenges like it’s nobody’s business, because the relentless cough is a real thing, but my energy is back and I’m so grateful to be over the sickness.
Lasagna - My older kiddo took one look at my pitiful state when I was down and out with my cold, and said, “don’t worry about dinner, Mama, I’ve got it”. And then he made us a delicious lasagna from scratch. He’s a bit of a whizz in the kitchen. He can feed us lasagna, makes amazing eggs, and is getting to be very helpful with lunches and dinners. I’m grateful for all of this and really enjoying watching him spread his culinary wings.
Gosh I hope you are feeling better soon. Summer colds are miserable. :(
That is one very talented son you have! Look at him putting a meal in the table already!
Also....Bilbo needs her own Instagram! 🐇
Bilbo is so adorable! This piece was so much fun to read. And the lasagna sounds delicious :)
