The kids and I have been listening to Dawud Wharnsby Ali in the car lately. If you don’t know him, he’s a Muslim Canadian Singer-Songwriter, with great, whimsical songs that are sometimes faith-based. I used to listen to him a fair bit back in the day, so now, when I hear his songs, it’s a double whammy of nostalgia and sometimes being hit with some emotionally intense lyrics.

It got me thinking about all the songs that make me cry. I can’t be the only one who loves listening to sad songs and crying. There is something incredibly cathartic about it. I thought I’d share a list of the ones I love:

1- Sing, Children of the World by Dawud Wharnsby Ali. Describes the lives of kids all over the world, starting off lightly and then ending with children suffering with war and famine. I’m so used to the song that I know the end is coming and the moment it starts, a lump forms in my throat.
