Welcome to Letters from a Muslim Woman,

This is a companion bonus for paid subscribers to go with the essay The Quran Still Speaks (to my word-loving heart).

In this piece, I am providing a recording of myself reciting all the Quran that I mention through out the essay. This includes:

  • Al-Fatiha - the opening

  • The 2nd last verse of Surat Al-Kahf - the chapter of the Cave

  • The 3 Quls

I’m also reciting the English translations. You may notice that the recitation is melodic - this is because the Quran is recited in a special manner called tajweed. Tajweed literally translates to mean, “to perfect, to beautify, or to improve”.
